How much does it cost to sell a domain?
Name.ai shows the applicable seller commission before you confirm a listing. The self-list track has no upfront listing fee; commission is charged only when a domain sells. Broker-assisted selling uses a separate commission structure disclosed during application.

Exact commission rates are shown at the point of listing before you confirm — so you know exactly what you'll receive before the domain is live. No surprises.

Broker-assisted track
Broker-assisted selling fees
Commission rate is higher than self-list, reflecting the active selling work your broker does on your behalf. Rate is shared upon application approval and is tiered based on final sale price.
- No success, no fee
- Tiered by deal size

How payouts work
How seller payouts work
Every sale settles through escrow, so funds only move once the buyer has confirmed they received the domain. Six stages run between an accepted offer and money in your account.
Offer accepted
You accept an offer through your Seller Dashboard.
Escrow activates
The buyer's payment is held securely by our escrow partner.
Transfer completed
Our team manages the domain handover — average 48 hours.
Buyer confirms
The buyer confirms receipt of the domain in their account.
Payout released
Escrow releases your payout within 24 hours of confirmation.
Funds arrive
Bank transfer arrives within 1–3 business days depending on your bank.
Timing
When will I get paid?
The clock starts when the buyer confirms the transfer, not when the offer is accepted. Escrow releases your payout within 24 hours of that confirmation, and the bank transfer itself then takes 1–3 business days depending on your bank. The domain handover ahead of it averages 48 hours, so most sales complete end-to-end within about a week.
Two things can extend that: a registry with a mandatory waiting period on transfers (see supported TLDs for which extensions carry conditions), and a buyer who delays confirming receipt — escrow protects you in both cases, since funds are already committed before transfer begins.
